Panel Discussion: Canadian Economic Outlook Update

Canada's future economic landscape is expected to be influenced by slowing global economic growth with trade tensions impacting businesses’ investment decisions and households’ purchasing power; the process of ratification of the new NAFTA deal; slower job growth; a struggling oil and gas sector; and a vulnerable housing market. Our annual and highly popular economic panel exchange promises to be engaging by focusing on an in-depth analysis of the current key economic drivers including a discussion of global factors which will affect near term forecasts.

    Moderator:

    Stevan Dostanic

    Assistant Treasurer, Shopify

Stevan Dostanic is the Assistant Treasurer at Shopify, where he oversees banking, cash flow forecasting, liquidity and the investment program. Prior to joining Shopify, he held the position of Senior Investment Officer at the City of Ottawa where he was responsible for the City’s investment program and for the management of a $1.5B Canadian bond portfolio, in addition to acting as Chair of the OC Transpo Pension Plan Advisory Committee. He also had stops at MD Financial, Export Development Canada, and the Federal Government. This is in addition to founding Astrolabe Financial Group, a Fee-for-Service and financial education organization. He has served in the past as the Treasurer of CFA Society Ottawa, and is currently in his fourth year as a board member of the Ottawa Chapter of the Association for Financial Professionals.

Stevan Dostanic graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Commerce and holds the CFA® charter, awarded by the CFA® Institute.
